Shipbuilding Data communication on a vessel is every bit as important as on land. Regardless of whether communication, IT, control and regulation, or information and alerting systems are involved: networks and data connections are omnipresent on board ship.
However, the operating conditions are completely different to those found in an office complex, a bank or a hotel, for example. In the shipbuilding industry, special and more stringent demands are placed on the components employed. These are determined by specialized classification societies such as Germanischer Lloyd (GL).
R&M components for Cat 5e and Cat 6 connector systems and for power distribution have to be able to meet these critical requirements without difficulty and are approved by Germanischer Lloyd.
